How Fast Can a Jackal Run?
A jackal can run at speeds up to 20mph which in kilometers per hour is around 32km/h. There are many species of jackals; three well known species of jackals are the golden jackal, black-backed jackal, and the side-striped jackals. The golden jackal can be found in the north and northeastern parts of Africa. The black-backed jackal can be found in the southernmost part of Africa and on the eastern coastline of Africa. The side-striped jackal can be found in the central and southern parts of Africa. There are other species of jackals but not all of those are recognized as jackals. The body of a jackal is around 0.60-95 meters long which is about 2-3.1 feet. That's including the tail of the jackal which is around 0.26-0.35 meters long which in inches is about 10-14 inches long. The jackal is around 0.3-0.5 meters tall at the shoulder which is about 1-1.6 feet tall at the shoulder. As for weight, the jackal weighs around 7-12kg which in pounds is about 15-26 pounds. As for diet, jackals will try to eat whatever they can get whether its small animals they have caught themselves or any already dead animals they come across. Jackals have been known to follow around big predators so they can eat the leftovers after the much bigger predators have made the kill and had their fill of it. Jackals are usually nocturnal. Jackals will live alone, in pairs, or they will live in packs. The gestation period for a jackal can vary based on what jackal species is being talked about. The gestation period for a jackal is usually around 57-70 days. A jackal will usually give birth to around 3-6 offspring. The offspring of a jackal are referred to as pups. As for lifespan, a jackal will live for around 9-12 years.
