How Fast Can a Ocelot Run?
An ocelot can run at speeds up to 38mph which is around 61km/h. The body of an ocelot is around 07-1 meters long which is about 2.3-3.2 feet long. That's not including the tail which is 0.3-0.4 meters which is around 1-1.3 feet. As for weight, the ocelots weigh around 10.9-15.9kg which is about 24.35 pounds. The ocelot is a good climber and also a good swimmer. Ocelots are usually silent and they mostly hunt at night. As for diet, ocelots hunt things like birds, rabbits, lizards, snakes, frogs, crabs, and fish. The ocelot has pointed fangs in the front and sharp teeth in the back. Their back teeth slice food like scissors but aren't great for chewing. Since their back teeth aren't great for chewing they tear their food to pieces and then swallow it whole. In some countries ocelots have been hunted for their fur. The gestation period is around 70 days. An ocelot will give birth to about 2-3 offspring. The offspring of an ocelot are usually referred to as kittens. The ocelot kittens are usually sheltered in a den. A newborn ocelot kitten will weigh around 0.25kg which is about 0.55 pounds. An ocelot kitten will be born blind and will not open its eyes for at least 15-18 days. As for lifespan, an ocelot will live for around 9-12 years in the wild. An ocelot can live for up to 20 years in captivity.
