Raccoons will most often die from disease. Raccoons will usually die from diseases like parvovirus, canine distemper, and rabies. Raccoons have five paws which they can use like fingers. The paws of a raccoon are very dexterous. Raccoons have been known to use their paws to do things like open door knobs and jars. A raccoons paws sensitivity to touch is increased underwater. Raccoons are actually decent swimmers. The gestation period for a raccoon will around 63-70 days. A raccoon will give birth to around 1-6 offspring. The offspring of a raccoon are often referred to as kits or cubs. The cubs of a raccoon will weigh around 0.06-0.07kg which is about 0.13-0.15 pounds. The cubs of a raccoon are born blind and deaf. The ear canal and then their eyes will open up in about 18-23 days. The eyes of a raccoon will usually open up a couple days after their ear canals open up. As for lifespan, a raccoon will live for around 2-5 years in the wild.
