How Fast Can a Two-Toed Sloth Run?

When a two-toed sloth moves on the ground they have to pull themselves by their claws.  A two-toed sloth can run at speeds of around 0.17mph which is about 0.27km/h.  The body of a two-toed sloth is around 0.6-0.7 meters long which is about 2-2.3 feet long.  As for weight, a two-toed sloth will weigh around 8kg which is about 17.6 pounds.  There are 2 species of two-toed sloth.  One of the species is known as Hoffmann's two-toed sloth which is also known as Choloepus hoffmanni.  The other species of two-toed sloth is known as Linnaeus's two-toed sloth which is also known as Choloepus didactylus.  The forelimbs of a two-toed sloth have two claws but the hind limbs actually have three claws.  Two-toed sloths spend most of their time in trees and they even sleep in them.  A two-toed sloth will sleep around 15-20 hours a day.  The neck vertebrae of a two-toed sloth are different from the neck vertebrae of the similar species known as the three-toed sloth.  The neck vertebrae of a two-toed sloth has around 6 or seven neck vertebrae while the neck vertebrae of a three-toed sloth will have about 8 or 9 vertebrae.  As for diet, two-toed sloths like to eat things like leaves, shoots, fruit, and insects.  Even though they are not good at moving on the ground they are actually good swimmers.  Two-toed sloths will actually mate and give birth in the trees.  The gestation period for a two-toed sloth is about 12 months.  The offspring of a two-toed sloth will cling their mother for about five weeks.  Two-toed sloths will usually only go on the ground to pass feces or urinate.  Unlike the three-toed sloth, the two-toed sloth is nocturnal.  As for lifespan, a two-toed sloth can live up to around 20 years but it is possible for them to live longer in the right conditions.
