How Fast Can a Wolverine Run?
A wolverine can run at speeds of 30mph which is about 48km/h. The body of a wolverine is around 0.7-1 meters long which is about 2.3-3.3 feet. As for weight, a male wolverine will weigh around 12-25kg which is about 26-55 pounds. A female wolverine will weigh around 8-14kg which is about 18-31 pounds. The wolverine is famous for its large sharp claws and willingness to fight. Wolverines have five sharp claws on each of their feet. The wolverines claws are not just used for defense and tearing through flesh of prey. The claws of a wolverine can also be used for climbing and digging. Wolverines also have large teeth that can crush bone. As for diet, the wolverine has been known to eat things like rabbits, rodents, birds, eggs, porcupines, and ground squirrels during the summer. During the winter the wolverine will hunt things like caribou and moose. Wolverines will often scavenge the kills of other predators like bears and wolves. When finding the kills of other predators a wolverine will try to intimidate and chase the other predator away. Once the wolverine has chased the other predator away, the wolverine will then feed on the other predators kill. Wolverines will sometimes climb trees and wait there until prey show up. Then the wolverine will pounce on the prey from the trees. The wolverine has anal scent glands which it uses for marking its territory. The anal scent glands of a wolverine give off a strong odor which has caused the wolverine to get the nickname skunk bear. The gestation period for a wolverine is around 30-45 days. A wolverine will have about 1-5 offspring. The offspring of a wolverine are referred to as kits. A female wolverine will usually give birth in a den. As for lifespan, a wolverine will live for around 7-12 years.
